A bifacially knapped knife with a fishtail handle, percussion flaked from a brown piece of flint. Percussion flaking was used to detach small flakes of flint from the upper surface by striking the flint with a hammerstone or other implement.
Dimensions: Length: 4 1/4 inches (10.8 cm)
Condition: Intact and in excellent condition.
Provenance: Private collection of Leighton Wilkie (1900 - 1993), founder of the international DoAll Group of companies that make and distribute machine tools and other industrial equipment. Thereafter, private NYC collection, acquired in the early 2000s.
