A Persian Gold Pendant, Achaemenid Period, ca 550 - 330 BCE

A superb Achaemenid hollow pendant of high karat gold, manufactured by cutting out the form from sheet gold and punching the design using a mold, a suspension loop attached at the top for stringing.

Condition: The pendant is intact and in excellent condition overall. It is strung as a necklace on a modern, adjustable 22-inch chain of 14K gold.

Provenance:  Acquired in Jerusalem in the 1960s, thereafter in a private Virginia collection.
