This decorative element is from a funerary canopy similar to the gold examples found in the tomb of Tutankhamen. Of pale green faience, it represents the stars in the sky as attested by the star decoration etched in the center, and four holes in the back for attachment.
Dimensions: length: 1 3/16 inch (3.01 cm)
Condition: Slight chip to the edge and in the center of the earring, but otherwise intact and in overall excellent condition.
Provenance: Estate of Robert Molnar, Hillsdale NJ, acquired in the 1960's, thereafter private Virginia collection until 2015.
